sevenFishes Studio

Yep, sevenFishes has a studio.  I'll have to post some of the raw tracks, sample mixes, and other interesting things as the project progresses.  The setup is pretty basic.  It's digital, and is centered around a Compaq PC, runnning Windows XP.  The interface is a Presonus Inspire.  I use a Mackie DFX-12 mixer if I want to bring in more than 2 simultaneous sound sources (like a miked drum kit).  I'm using a Yamaha YPG235 for piano/synth and also as a midi controller.   I'm using Steinberg Cubase Studio 4 as my DAW software.  I have ToonTrack's EZDrummer for setting up basic drum tracks to play along with.  I haven't really added anything in the way of software other than what comes with Cubase Studio.  I've got a few Shure and Peavey microphones (a mix of vocal and instrument mics), and a rats nest of cables.  Oh, and I'm using an old stereo amplifier and some Sony speakers to monitor.

It's really a pretty simple setup, no real outboard gear to speak of.   Yeah, I'd like to get some real powered nearfield monitors, and replace the Inspire with an interface that will support 16 simultaneous inputs, but those will have to wait for a while...at least until my new Harley is paid off! :)

Oh...I almost forgot...I have a Boss MicroBR that I carry around to capture ideas, work on riffs, and tune my guitars!  It's a four track recorder, but I've really only ever used two tracks...one to lay down a rhythm/riff, and then another to try out solo phrases, chord variations, harmonized riffs, etc.   It's really handy...I like it a lot!
