The Search Begins

PLOW needs some new musicians!  Due to a change in musical direction/focus, PLOW is in need of a drummer and a bass player.  We're also looking for a second guitarist.  I guess that's the "positive spin" way of saying that Scott and I are putting a new band together.

Here's something thought provoking for a Sunday night...is it worth the time and effort to find three more people and put a new band together, or would my time be better spent finishing my solo project, and using that as a stepping stone to finding a spot in an existing/working band?

Or, would the solo project be a way of attracting dedicated musicians to the new version of PLOW?

I really don't know the answer, but that's what I'll be thinking about for a while.

Summertime shows....

So, PLOW played a gig Saturday evening at one of our favorite local bars.  It had been a beautiful day, a little warm, but still a beautiful Pennsylvania summer day, and the evening promised to be nice as well, cooling off, clear, no rain....just a nice evening!  We got to the bar about an hour and a half before show time, and started unloading all the gear.  We were all set up within an hour, giving us time for a sound check, and time to chat with the bartenders/waitresses for a while before we started the first set.

What struck me, as I was walking to the bar to get the first of many diet Cokes for the evening, was that there wasn't really much of a crowd.  We're not Rush or anything, but we get a decent turnout, and the place was pretty empty.  A few familiar faces, a few new friends, but nothing you would call a "crowd".

It was like that pretty much all evening...some folks came, some went, some stayed all night, some had a drink and left, but we pretty much played to a half empty floor all night.

After we finished our third set, I took some time to talk to the bar manager, and was expressing my concern foabout the lack of a crowd, and her comment was "it's July, don't worry about it.  It's always slow in July".  I took some solace in that, but I wonder....was it like that everywhere?

PLOW has another show in August....I hope the crowds are back by then!!!!!
